Tell us something about your life outside of CrossFit (career, family, hobbies, etc).
Outside of the gym, you can probably find me at the corner of happy and healthy—aka Walgreens. I’m currently an ASMT there. Before I started Crossfit and before I even learned to walk, I learned to play soccer. Some of my greatest achievements were back in 2016/2017 when Coach Matt was really Coach Matt of the Women’s Bucks County Community College soccer team. In my last year I managed to achieve many respects that I am very proud of—ending the season with 25 goals and 8 assists. I was honored to receive 1st Team in XIX Women’s All Region, Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, Offensive Player of the year 2016/17 as well as breaking all the offensive records at BCCC. As well as being a part of the Women’s Soccer program, I played for the Women’s Basketball team.
Just like in the gym, outside of the gym most of my free time is spent with Joe Rebholz whom I met through Coach Matt when he decided to make him our team’s manager. I am a Levittown native and one of six children!
My favorite book or movie:
In terms of reading, I haven’t read many books on my own outside of school. But this summer I managed to read The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a not-so-typical- good read…see me to borrow it!
Now movies are a different story, it is so hard to pick just one. But if I have to narrow it down between the two, I love the Pursuit of Happiness and Shutter Island.
My favorite local restaurant:
If you know me, you know food is my absolute favorite thing in the world. I’m gonna have to go with the simple choice of Clubhouse Newtown though—it never fails. Catch me at the club on Mondays for 40 cent wings. #thewinglifedidntchooseme
Tell us something that we don’t know or would be surprised to learn about you:
My thumbs aren’t the same size. Ask to see them, your world will be blown. One is really tiny, I call it my Megan Fox thumb because she has the same thing going on.
How I was introduced to CrossFit:.
Obviously through women’s soccer, Coach Matt recommended we should come try Crossfit. It’s a really great aid in injury prevention and we didn’t have that many players, so all the conditioning was kind of essential to our success.
My fitness routine before CrossFit:
My fitness routine before Crossfit was essentially non-existent. Sure I had played soccer all my life and was very active, but I had never had a gym membership of any type… let alone touched a barbell/dumbbell.
My thoughts after my first CrossFit workout:
I don’t think I’ve ever felt so exhausted in my life. I might’ve laid on the ground for 20 minutes.
My proudest CrossFit accomplishment is:
Just recently I’ve started to do a couple strict pull ups, something I had never even dreamed about doing.
My favorite WOD is:
I don’t really have a favorite Wod, I like anything with cardio and that really gets a sweat going.
My Favorite Lift is:
Squat Clean/Back Squat
My next goal is:
My next goal is to compete in my first ever Crossfit competition.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym?
Crossfit has made me mentally tougher. It is such an empowering feeling when you finish a hard wod, or hit a new PR. But you’re not always going to have that motivation, and when you don’t have that motivation, it’s pure discipline to get yourself in the gym—even when you don’t want to, even when you’ve had a long day at work. And I find that this translates into my everyday life. Push just a little bit harder, you can achieve greater than you think. It’s all mental.
What I love most about CrossFit Newtown:
I absolutely love the family environment of the gym. Everyone is so supportive of each other’s achievements and hardships. No one ever struggles alone.
What advice I would give to someone just joining CrossFit Newtown:
Don’t worry about whatever everyone else is doing. That shouldn’t concern you. Everyone moves at their own pace, progress will come in time and with hard work!
Do you have any diet/nutritional advice:
Wow, do I have nutritional advice. So obviously as we established earlier, I love food and I love to eat. But just remember, we eat to live, not live to eat. I went through a phase for a couple months, where I didn’t really work out and was just eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. But that definitely doesn’t fly, and I learned that the hard way. Over the past 2-3 months, I’ve been on a fitness and weight loss mission with Weight Watchers. Best decision ever. I’ve lost 22 lbs. since I’ve started before Halloween. As long as you cut out the snacks, eat much protein (appetite suppressant), and DON’T go to Clubhouse Newtown on Monday’s—you’ll be in the clear.
