December Member of the Month: Roy Brito


How I was introduced to CrossFit:  one year ago about 6 of us in our neighborhood used a living social promotion

My fitness routine before CrossFit:  I would workout about 3 times a week in our gym in the basement, usually with a beer in my hand. Maybe that’s why it usually took 2 hours

My thoughts after my first CrossFit workout: I can’t breath, why can’t I do a pull up, and how out of shape I really am

My proudest CrossFit accomplishment is:  competing in Summer Slam

My favorite WOD is: I like WODs that combine cardio and lifting like Helen, Klepto and the Filthy Fifty.

My Favorite Lift is:  Thrusters although I suck at it

My next goal is:  keep improving form and lift higher weights

 What I love most about CrossFit Newtown:  it’s been said before, but the trainers and members are special people. Also being right across from work doesn’t hurt.

What advice I would give to a someone just joining CrossFit Newtown:  the aches and pains, although they may never go away completely, they will subside. Most importantly listen to your body and improve form with lower weights before you tackle RX.  Oh, and take days off.

Do you have any diet/nutritional advice? I absolutely have no authority on that subjec and actually consider it one of my biggest weaknesses. I workout so I can eat what I want…it does not really work but it’s a motto I follow right now.
